Alexander Woods, Jr.

U.S. Veteran

Mr. Alexander Woods, Jr., age 62 of Valdosta, Ga., departed this life on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at his residence.

Alexander “Skeeter” Woods Jr. was born to the late Netha Woods McCastle and the late Alexander Woods Sr. on January 31, 1949.

He was educated in the Valdosta City School System. After receiving his education, he joined the Marines in 1969 where he was a Corporal. He was later honorably discharged. Alexander was employed with Bruce Black, Henry Barnes and Earl Wetherington - Roofing & Remodeling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather: Clarence McCastle; grandmother: Emma Willis Guess and one sister: Emmajean Woods.

Alexander leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Maggie Pearl Woods of Valdosta, GA; a daughter: Keyuna Bynes of Valdosta, GA; a son: Alexander Woods III of Valdosta, GA; two devoted sisters: Sandra (Frank) Moore of Slidell, LA and Linda Kier of Valdosta, GA; sisters and brothers: James Howell of Valdosta, GA; Carl (Pat) McCastle, Imogene (Tony) Hezekiah, Phylas (Herbert) NeSmith, Charles (Betty) McCastle and Carol McCastle; aunts and uncles: Larue (Jimmy) Stevenson, Mildred Jackson and Alfleta Fason; one great aunt: Eunice Smith; sisters and brothers in-law: Norman Jean (Keith) Berry, Barbara Jean (Bobby) Bell, Hosea (Vickie) Butler Jr., Ruby Phillips, Linda Phillips, Jessie Mae Phillips and John Phillips; grandchildren: LaQuesha, lil DreQjuan, QuaDeja, big DreQjuan, Shakira and Tomiya; god-sister: Brenda Mazion; best friends: Joe Barnes, Harry Davis and L.E. Andersons; special friends: Daisy Thomas, Earl and Mary Wetherington, Henry Barnes, Fabian Thomas, Zabian Thomas, Michelle Thomas, Lawrence Billington, Letrone Russell, Naressia Owens, Bruce and Aleshia Black and a host of sorrowing family and friends.

The homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 from the sanctuary of Southside Church of Christ. Bro. Arthur Ponder will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
