Alexander "Jack" Irvin
(April 5, 1937 - June 3, 2012)
Alexander Irvin, age 75, was born to the late Collie and Estella Irvin, April 5, 1937 in Valdosta, GA. He departed this life on June 3, 2012 after an extensive illness.
To most people, he was affectionately called “Jack”. He attended Pinevale High School and was a member of the Class of 1958.
As a loving family man, he taught family unity and always helped and served others. He believed your wealth was measured by the friends you were blessed to make.
Jack was married to Gwendolyn Irvin for over fifty two years. He was a member of Dayspring Baptist Church. He retired from Barnes Drug Store after 46 years of service.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother: Willard Irvin and two sisters: Grace Irvin and Valaree Wiseman.
In addition to his loving and dedicated wife, Gwen, Jack leaves to cherish his memories: five children: Anthony Williams (Stephanie) of Englewood, CA, Virgil Williams (Kathy) of Los Angeles, CA, Darryl Irvin (Diane) of Stone Mountain, GA, Tracy Bradshaw (Thomas) of Lilburn, GA and Wendy Irvin of Stone Mountain, GA; six sisters: Marjorie Chandler of Hollywood, FL, Juanita Irvin of Valdosta, GA, Almarine James (Charlie) of Pinole, CA, Mae Ruth Williams (Oscar) of Hollywood, FL, Willa Matchett (Lee) of Valdosta, GA, and Carrie Smith (Rodney) of Warner Robbins, GA; three brothers: Richard Irvin (Alberta) of Valdosta, GA, Leonard Irvin (Veanna) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Mitchell Irvin (Princess) of San Francisco, CA; one sister in-law: Pauline Franklin of Jacksonville, FL; one brother in-law: C. Randy Humphrey (Gaye) of Stone Mountain, GA; a special niece and nephew: Annie Ree Patterson and Frank Wiseman of Valdosta, GA; eight grandchildren: Terri, Donta, Sheraton, Kenya, Ashley, Christopher, Kiara, and Jaida; one great-grandchild: Niyah; three special and devoted friends: Robert Jenkins, Richard Moore, Jr. and Michael White; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and loving friends.
Special thanks to Dr. Gerald Light, Dr. Aruna Urbonas, the staff of U.S. Renal Care inc.,Barnes Drug Store and the staff of South Georgia Medical Center who were involved with the care of Mr. Irvin.
Special thanks to all the family and friends who supported, prayed for and loved "Jack".
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 11 A.M from the sanctuary of Serenity Church, 1619 N. Lee St., Valdosta, GA 31601, Floyd Rose, Senior Servant. The Reverend Charlie Dunbar III will officiate.
Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
