Mrs. Alberta Mitchell Irvin was born March 31, 1928, in Madison, FL, to the late Tom Mitchell and Irene Cooks Mitchell.
Alberta confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was a member of Greater Pleasant Temple Missionary Baptist Church.
On Friday, October 21, God closed her weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace be still”.
In addition to her parents, Alberta is preceded in death by two sisters: Corine Akins and Mamie Sloan; one brother: Tommy Mitchell; two sons: John Wesley Thomas and Larry Thomas; one of her daughters: Beverlyn Thomas Robinson and three of her grandsons: George Sams III, Michael Sams, and Paul Gerome Thomas ll.
Mrs. Alberta Irvin leaves to lament her home going, her husband: Richard Irvin of Valdosta, GA; three daughters: Clemmie Jean Sams of Valdosta, GA, Barbara Carter (Marcellous) of Hahira, GA, and Alma Yusuff of Atlanta, GA; her four sons: Jimmy Thomas (Essie), Jack Thomas, Paul Thomas (Darlene), and Billy Thomas (Pandoria) all of Valdosta, GA; one daughter-in-law: Wanda Faye Thomas of Valdosta, GA; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; two special friends: Addie Lamb and Evelyn Lowther; her special caregiver: Phyllis Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Alberta Mitchell Irvin will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016, 3:00 P.M., at the Greater Pleasant Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Valdosta, GA.
Pastor Bernard Robinson, Sr. will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Pallbearers Cemetery.
