Albertha Payne Boykin

March 25, 1924 — March 31, 2018

Valdosta

Sister Albertha Boykin was born to the late Cleveland and Lizzie Payne on March 25, 1924, in Lowndes County, Georgia.

She was educated in the Lowndes County School System.

Sister Albertha was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her four children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Jackson Drive Church of Christ. Her nieces and nephews loved her very much and lovingly called her their "adopted mother." She was always willing to help family members and others in need. She truly loved her church family and was affectionately called "mom" by many members. Being the true lady she was, Sis. Albertha loved wearing her hats. When not tending to the need of others, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and traveling.

On Saturday, March 31, the Lord called Sis. Albertha from earthly labor to heavenly rest.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Leroy Boykin, Sr. and all of her siblings: Nina Marie Thomas, Mirl Franklin, Katrina Brown, Lucy Shiver, Nellie Williams, Lizzie Wiseman and Alonzo C. Payne.

Sister Albertha leaves precious memories to her four children: Josephine Sorrell (Fuller), Joseph Boykin, Fannie Saunders, Leroy Boykin, Jr. (Josephine), all of Valdosta, GA; her extended family: Curtis Williams (Sheila) and Shirley Jones both of Valdosta, GA; special niece: Johnnie M. Williams; her adopted family: David and Annie J. Wilkerson; special friends: Hellon Rogers, Corine Thomas; and Wayne Thomas; five grandchildren: Karen Saunders, Yolanda Saunders, Lynette Boykin, Timothy Boykin and Charlett Harris; three great-grandchildren: Ronald Wilcots, Rhias S. Wilcots and Armani Boykin; her Jack-son Drive Church of Christ family; and a host of other family members.
