Alfonso Harris

Mr. Alfonso Harris, age 77, of 3017 Moore Crossing Road, Valdosta, GA, passed this life on Wednesday August 11, 2010 at the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta. Mr. Alfonso was born on July 13, 1933 in Naylor, GA, to the late Mr. George Harris and the late Mrs. Lessie Harris Golden. He was married to the former Mrs. Pauline Jackson.
Alfonso Harris attended the Lowndes County School System. For many years, he was a professional truck driver and later retired from Moody AFB CE Service. Alfonso enjoyed fishing with his buddy, Wayne Mahan. Not only did he have a passion for fishing, he also loved farming. He was a loving, gentle and caring husband, father and friend. He was preceded in death by
one sister, Gloria Harris.

In addition to his wife of forty two years, Mrs. Pauline Harris, Alfonso leaves to cherish his memories two daughters: Lessie Harris Bright of Valdosta, GA and Hope Baker of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three stepchildren: Beverly (Eddie) Mattison and Michael Harris of New York and Palma Gilder of Jacksonville, FL; two stepsisters: Georgia Mae Ford of Atlanta, GA and Dora Lee Herring of Valdosta, GA; four brothers: George Harris of Philadelphia, PA, Clarence (Addie) Harris and Johnny Lee (Cynthia) Harris of Valdosta, GA and James (Emily) Harris of Miami, FL; two stepbrothers: Cleveland Herring of Valdosta, GA and Rev. John Alvin (Gloria) McIntosh; two sister in-laws: Rose Jackson of Valdosta, GA and Rose Jackson of Pompano Beach, FL; two special nephews: Allen Hodge and Carlton Jackson; twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be on Sunday August 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the sanctuary of Good Hope Christian Church, 3697 Tower Road, Valdosta. Pastor Randy Jones will officiate and interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Valdosta, GA. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.godfreyfuneralhome.net.
