Alneatha Whitfield was born January 4, 1946, in Clyattville, GA to the late Ethel and Richard Whitfield.
She received her education and graduated from the State of Florida School System. After graduating, she moved to New York City and remained there for over thirty years. She later moved to Valdosta where she resided for over twenty years.
Her career choices included being a security officer, a cashier and working in the nursing field. Alneatha loved her house, her yard, her car, cats, dogs, and shopping. She was a very strong and independent woman who always did things “Her Way”.
Her life’s motto simply stated:
I can do it for myself
I can do it by myself
I will always do it my way
Alneatha departed this life Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents: Fred and Rosa Lee Whitfield, Charley and Emma Hall; two brothers: Otis Whitfield and Richard Whitfield, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, husband: Warren Oglivie; her five brothers: Charlie Mack Whitfield, Sylvester Whitfield, Aubrey Whitfield, Izeal Whitfield, and Grady Whitfield; her two aunts: Rosa Lee Whitfield-Shepard and Lusenda Whitfield-Hale; her three sisters-in-law: Brenda Whitfield, Judy Whitfield and WillieMae Whitfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The memorial service for the late Mrs. Alneatha Whitfield will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 1:00pm in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.
Pastor James Bernard Braswell II will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
