Mrs. April Elaine Hooks Wright

April Elaine Hooks Wright was born March 12, 1969 to Margie Davis and the late Samuel Smith III in Valdosta, GA.

She was educated in the Valdosta City Schools and was a proud member of the Valdosta High graduating class of 1987.

April was different, she was special, authentic, unique in a thousand ways. She was an intelligent woman who did not mind speaking her truth. She spoke, lived and loved boldly. To many, April was a awesome mentor, confident and also friend.

The Lord gently called her unto rest, Monday, July 28, 2014.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her grandfather: Willie Hooks.

April leaves to cherish her memories, her husband: Marcus Wright of Valdosta, GA; four children: Christopher Stoney of Tampa, FL, Brandon Garrison of Valdosta, GA, Tayler Garrison of Valdosta, GA, and Desmond Garrison of Valdosta, GA; six brothers: Bruce Copeland of Valdosta, GA, Jeffrey Moore (Rosemary) of Cecil, GA,J W Willis of Orlando, FL, Roberto Arnold of Valdosta, GA, Samuel Smith and Otis Copeland; her grandmother: Gladys Hooks of Valdosta, GA; one uncle: Ricky Copeland (Monica) of Valdosta, GA; three aunts: Sharron Burks, Debra Jones (Albert) of Valdosta, GA, and Pat (Frazier) Jones of Valdosta, GA; three brothers in-law: J T Wright (Tammy), Anthony Wright (Brenda) and JaMicheal; one sister in-law: Priscilla Wright (Curtis); special friends: Wanda Smithson, Sharon Keeley and Velma McGill; two grandchildren: Jalissa and Callen; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. April Elaine Wright will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Evangel Temple Church.

Dr. Henry E. Wright is the pastor.

Pastor David F. Richards III will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Gary Cemetery.

No public viewing will be held.
