Mr. Benjamin Bullard

Benjamin Bullard, Sr. was born on March 17, 1931, in Sylvania, Georgia to the late Anderson and Edna Bullard.

He departed this life on July 1, 2016, at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Georgia.

Ben was the youngest of eight siblings and was preceded in death by five of his siblings. After the death of his parents, Ben was raised by his grandparents and upon their death, he was raised by his aunt, Catherine Johnson.

Ben graduated in 1951 from Dasher High School in Valdosta, Georgia. He then moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He worked several jobs before retiring from the United States Postal Service in 1989.

Ben married the late Louise Sloan in 1953 and to this union, they were blessed with four children. Later in life, he was united with his former classmate, Gloria Cain and they were married in 2007.

Ben accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and attended St. Timothy AME Church in Valdosta, GA. After moving to Philadelphia, PA, he joined Bible Way Baptist Church. Later, he relocated to Valdosta, GA and became member of St John AME Church. Throughout his Christian life, Ben served as a Trustee, Usher, and sang in the Men’s Choir. Ben loved the Lord and was very faithful in the ministries that he served.

Ben was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed greatly. His memories will forever be cherished by his wife Gloria; four children: Benjamin (Cecelia), Michelle (Charles), Brian (Janet), Rodney Bruce and step-son Ronald (Cynthia). He leaves twelve grandchildren: Juanita, Benjamin III, Belinda, Brendan, Jared, Robert, Brian Jr., April, Rodney Jr., Sean, Eva, and Stephen; and nine great grandchildren: Maya, Faith, Blake, Kialynn, Katelynn, Haley, Isabel, Marquis, and Chanel. Ben is also survived by two sisters: Lena Gosier and Dorothy Dorsey; two sisters-in-law: Arlene Bullard and Jessie Smith; his Bible Way Baptist Church family of Philadelphia, PA, and a host of nieces, nephews,cousins and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mr. Benjamin Bullard will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of St. John AME Church.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
