Bertha Mae “Sweetie” Moody, the third of nine children, was born on February 16, 1938, to the late Eugene and Ruthie Mae Baker. On Saturday, January 2, 2021, Bertha left this earthly state transitioning to the cloud of witnesses that awaits each of us on the other side.
Preceded in death by her children, Lamarian Burgess and Faith Brown; her sisters, Coy Bell, Elmon William, and Lillian Wright; her brothers, Walter Baker and Carol Baker. She now joins them walking the heavenly streets paved of gold.
Left behind to cherish Bertha’s memories: her children, Rickey Jenkins (Brinda) of St. Mary’s, GA, Umar Ahmad Baker of Chicago, IL , Johnny Crook of Dallas, TX , and Hope Baker-Morrow (Timothy) of Brandon, FL; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; her sisters, Gloria Elliott and Ida Hankins of Valdosta, GA, and Priscilla Washington of Conyers, GA.; her godchildren, Sabrinna Flucas (Bernard) of Valdosta, GA, Marva Frazier (Garnell) of Valdosta, GA, and Howard Golden (Pinkie) of Quitman, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, foster-children and friends. She will be dearly missed!
Celebration of Life graveside service for the late Ms. Bertha Mae “Sweetie” Moody will be Monday, January 11, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Riverview Memorial Gardens, Valdosta.
Public viewing will be Sunday, January 10, 2021, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home.
All those who wish to pay their respect in person must wear a mask during visitation and at the gravesite. The family will not be accepting visitors at the residence.
