Betty Jean McClain was born August 2, 1956 in Ocilla, GA, to the late Elijah Davis Sr. and the late Pauline Davis.
She was educated in the Lowndes County School System. As a former food service provider for South Georgia Medical Center, Betty Jean understood the importance of putting love in everything you do. She was a giver of herself, especially to her family. She gave them self-determination through encouragement; she gave them strength by supporting them; and she gave them power through knowledge, wisdom and discipline. She loved her children in such way, that they all felt like they were her favorite. Betty Jean was loving and energetic. She was a blessing and a gift, simply put, she was “pure gold”.
Betty Jean made her life ending transition, Thursday, August 28, 2014 surrounded by her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters: Paula Davis and Rachel Allen; two brothers: Elijah Davis Jr. and James Nickson; two sisters in-law: Nettie Lee Doe and Zeramae Doe; and two brothers in-law: Mitchell Howard and Willie C. Brown.
