Beverly Johnson, age 80, passed on Monday December 13, 2010, in Miami, FL, following a brief illness. Born to the union of Mr. Charlie and Minnie Gibson Lockett, Beverly began her life in Abbeville, AL, on July 22, 1930. After graduating from Dasher High School in 1949, she married and moved to New York City. Later, she moved to Miami, FL and remained there until God called her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clemon Johnson; her son, Irvin Hall; her parents, Charlie Lockett, Russell and Minnie Ceasar; grandmother, Lucy Franklin Berrian; her six sisters: Devoria Ceasar, Mary Lucy Coes, Charlie Mae Sanford, Pearlie Lipscomb, Anna Jean Ceasar and Gladys McClain; one brother, Norman Ceasar.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jarvis (Rebecca) Hall of New York; three grandchildren: Irvin Hall, Jarrell Hall, Fred (Evelyn) Wearing, all of New York City; nine great-grand children; one brother, Sam (Carline) Ceasar of Palm Bay, FL; two sisters, Geraldine (Rev. James) Greene II of Thomasville, GA, and Gladys Brown, of Miami, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Beverly Johnson will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010, 12:00 p.m., at Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel, 636 River Street, Valdosta. Dr. William C. Morgan will be officiating and interment will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Public viewing will be today (Thursday December 16th) from 12:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at Godfrey Funeral Home on this evening (Thursday December 16th) from 5:30 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.godfreyfuneralhome.net. Godfrey Funeral Home, LLC of Valdosta, GA is in charge of the arrangements.
