Bobby Abercrombie

March 3, 1942 — June 23, 2014

Bobby Abercrombie was born March 3, 1942 in Maplesville, Alabama to the late Willie Abercrombie and the late Hattie Mae Rutledge Abercrombie. He was educated in the Chilton County Schools in Clanton, Alabama.

Bobby was a hard worker and a man of integrity. He retired from Valdosta State University. His family will always remember his special smile, his caring heart and warm embrace. Him being there through good and bad times, no matter what. Bobby could be quite the jokester, his laughter was a source of joy. However, in the words of James Brown, “Poppa don’t take no mess!”.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.

Bobby was granted eternal rest Monday, June 23, 2014 while a resident of the Lake Haven Nursing Home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Elsie Randall, Willie Earl Abercrombie, Johnny Abercrombie, Edward Abercrombie and Mary Alice Abercrombie and two children: Myra Abercrombie and Kenneth Abercrombie.

He leaves to cherish his memory two children: Eric Morrow of Huntsville, AL and Barbara Ann Abercrombie of South Carolina; a devoted sister: Earlean Foster (Henry) of Valdosta, GA; five brothers: Robert Abercrombie of Valdosta, GA, Willie James Abercrombie of Perry, FL, Percy Abercrombie (Mary Ann), Roger Abercrombie (Cassandra) and Ray Charles Abercrombie (Bylinda), all of Maplesville, AL; two sisters in-law: Larry Abercrombie of Perry, FL and Shirley Ruth Abercrombie of Stanton, AL; and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mr. Bobby Abercrombie will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 11:00am in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.

Pastor Darren Neal will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
