Mrs. Brenda Louise Kirkland

February 7, 1952 — March 15, 2016

Mrs. Brenda Louise Kirkland was born February 7, 1952, the first child of eight to Leroy and The Late Louise Hill of Newnan, Georgia. She left her earthly tabernacle for her heavenly mansion to be her mother and her God on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at The South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA.

Brenda is preceded in death by her mother, Louise B. Hill and her nephew, Andre L. Head.

Brenda wedded in Holy Matrimony, her high school sweetheart, Immanuel Kirkland on September 9, 1970, and to this union two children were born.

Brenda was born and raised in Coweta County, Newnan, GA and graduated from Central High School Class of 1970. After graduation she married Immanuel and they enlisted in the United States Air Force on May 1971 and their journey began. They traveled and saw the world: from Homestead AFB Florida, Ipswich England, Langley AFB Virginia, Lakenheath England, Luke AFB Phoenix Arizona, Korea and the on the Moody AFB Valdosta, GA. Brenda was a dedicated worker at the Defense Commissary Agency at Moody AFB as Secretary and Personnel Liaison. She officially retired from her position on March 1, 2016.

Brenda was a person of love and kindness. Her home became the neighborhood home when her children were growing up, the friends of her children often time called her mom because she was concerned for them just as much as she was her very own. She has a way of using her hands when it came to a roll of yarn and a needle “crocheting”. She could look at a picture and in a matter of minutes she would be able to transform it. She made blankets, shawls, scarfs, baby bunting, house shoes, sweaters, hats, gloves, you name it and she made it. She even went beyond the call when she was in the hospital. She made a scarf for every nurse that came into her room; she even gave the staff that kept her room clean a scarf. She had a heart of gold and she loved her family with all of her heart. Another one of her favorite pastime was cooking, she could whip up a dish and have everyone coming back for seconds.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 45 years, Immanuel Kirkland Sr.; son, Immanuel Kirkland, Jr. (Nancy Arzola – Fiancé) of Valdosta, GA; daughter, Bridget Kirkland of Jessup Maryland; grandchildren, Ishmail & Damoni Kirkland and Bryston Lloyd Thurman; father, Leroy Hill, Sr. ; her brothers and sisters, Linda Head, Leroy Hill, Jr, Eva Allen-Hill, Danny (Cathy) Hill, Janice (Jeffery) Sutton, Tamara Smith, Sam (Shona) Hill and Angelo (Brenda) Hill, her brothers and sisters in-laws, Katie Melson, Lorrine Johnson, Hannah (Penny) Johnson, Willie Hayes, Ollie Hayes, Marvin Hayes and Joe Kirkland, other siblings, Bobbie Echols, Opal Gray, Shirley Terrell, Roger (Brenda) Geter, Gerald (Vanessa) Geter, Leroy (Shemeka) Geter, Robert (Tracey) Geter, aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
