Charlene Sharp Watson was born January 3, 1943 in Valdosta, GA to the late Lenora Bacon and the late J.C. Sharp.
Charlene received her early education in the Valdosta City Public School System. She continued her education in the study field of nursing in Boston, MA and Brooklyn, NY.
In her younger years, she was joined in holy matrimony to Carl James and from this union one child was born, Alfred James. She later married the late L.D. Watson.
She was employed by Coastal Plain and Lowndes High School. She later became employed by the Brooks County School System where she served as the Director of the Nutrition Program. After faithful years of service, Charlene retired in 2005 and received an Outstanding Performance Award.
Charlene devoted her life to her family and friends. She was very involved with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of her family’s needs.
Recognizing she needed a Savior, she attended Bethel CME as a youth and later joined St. John AME. On Thursday, March 3, 2016, God put His arms around her and lifted her unto eternal rest. Resting where no shadows fall, in peaceful sleep she awaits us all.
In addition to her parents and husband, Charlene is preceded in death by her grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Bacon and one grandson: Quentin James.
Charlene is survived by her only son: Alfred James of Valdosta, GA; her six grandchildren: Shelissa, Alfred, Jr., Alexandria, Torry, Jahiem James and Sharika Williams; her two brothers: Leon Williams of Somers Pointe, NJ and Elder Willie C. Sharp of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her only sister: Cherry Ridgeway (Red) of Bear, DE; special friends: Charlie Mae Ghee, Eula Mitchell, Patricia Johnson, Jeanine Tucker, Tearse James, Sandra Fuller, and the Bacon family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Charlene Sharp Watson will be held Saturday, March 12,2016 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of St. John AME Church.
Rev. Kelly Faulk is the pastor.
Rev. George Vereen will officiate.
Interment will follow in Pallbearers Cemetery.
