Charlie Thompson was born in Valdosta, GA, to the late William Thompson and Louvenia Preaster Thompson. He was educated in the Lowndes County School System. Charlie understood the value of hard work. He was a dedicated employee of Bathcraft for over 25 years until his health began to weaken.
There was a certain kindness and compassion about Charlie. His life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of others needs. He always had your best interest at heart.
Charlie loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. William C. Morgan.
The Lord gently called Charlie unto eternal rest, Wednesday, November 20, 2013.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife whom he adored: Clara Thompson; one sister: Thelma Preaster Bell; one brother: William Mac Thompson; one son: Pastor Alfred Colbert Sr., and one niece: Veronica Bell.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memories, two sons: Lawrence Colbert (Mary)and Anthony Moore (Vanessa) of Valdosta, GA; three daughters: Iris Allen (Bobby) of Miami, FL, Geraldine Simmons (Kevin) of Orlando, FL, and Lynette Adams (Arthur) of Valdosta, GA; one daughter in-law: Bessie Colbert; two sisters in-law: Katie Johnson and Carol Thompson; six nieces: Collen Glover, Brenda Brown, Anita Davis, Debbie Preaster Smith (Freddie), Regina Bell and Phyllis Bell; eight nephews: Donald Woods, Willie C. Johnson Jr., Aaron T. Johnson, Jerome Preaster (Patricia), Anthony Bell, Gregory Bell, Michael Thompson and William Thompson; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, family, friends and his Morning Star Church family.
The Celebration of Life for the late Mr. Charlie Thompson will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of The Church at Pine Hill.
Pastor Alex Bunion will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
