Cheryl Darlene Irvin Bivins was born January 6, 1948 in Lake Park, Georgia to Richard Irvin Sr. and Clara E. Burgman Irvin. She was educated in the Lowndes County School System and was a proud member of the Westside High School graduating class of 1965. She furthered her education at Savannah State University where she graduated in 1969 and received her degree in Sociology.
Cheryl had a captivating smile and heart. She fervently loved all people with a pure heart, hope and patience. She was rich in good works, ready to give and willing to share. The word of the Lord dwelt richly in her. She was one of God’s #1 cheerleaders and fan! The praise always began with Cheryl.
She was a keeper of God’s church and one of the major founding members of Pentecostal House of Prayer where she faithfully and radically served the Praise and Worship Ministry, KK Ministry, the International Group, and the Outreach Ministry. She rarely missed a Sunday, (‘cause there is no good excuse!’). Problems had to wait till later, ‘cause she was in her Father’s place!’ She had quite a sense of humor and a way with words.
On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, there was a cry made, “Behold, the bridegroom cometh!” and Cheryl went out to meet Him.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents: Mary Lee Newman, Charlie Burgman, Sr., Estella Mae Irvin and Collie Irvin; four uncles: Willard Irvin, Leonard Irvin, Alexander “Jack” Irvin and Charlie Burgman, Jr.; and four aunts: Eva Lee Cowart, Erma Nell Corbett, Lillie Lenox and Grace Irvin.
