Mr. Chester M. Brown Sr.

April 19, 1940 — September 18, 2014

Chester M. Brown, Sr., was born April 19, 1940 in Valdosta, GA, to the late Cornelius and Viola White Brown.

Educated in the Valdosta City School System, he attended Pinevale High School. When he was a child, he spoke, understood and thought as a child; but when he became a man, he put away childish things.

Chester was a hard-working man and retired from Southern States. Whatever he started, he always finished. Never believed in doing anything half way. He later married his sweetheart, Evelyn Roberts, October 3, 1962, whom loved to dance with, and to this union, were five children. He was the life of the party and kept everybody laughing. He believed in educating himself and his children. He was a hands on father, who always made time for his children and even their friends. He taught his children to respect others, but most importantly to respect themselves. Chester was a man that trusted God.

Before his illness, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling with his wife, taking pictures of his family, fishing, watching boxing and western movies. He was an awesome cook and loved to bake cakes.

This incredible husband, daddy, uncle, brother, friend, and best grandpa was granted eternal rest, Thursday, September 18, 2014.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings and his sweetheart of 50 years, Evelyn Roberts Brown.

Chester leaves his legacy of life, love and laughter to his children: John Brown, (Frances) of Detroit, MI, Al Brown, Chester M. Brown Jr. (Jacqueline), Debra Jennings (Nicholas), and Reginald Brown, all of Valdosta, GA; one sister: Dorothy Mitchell of Dallas, TX; one brother: Kenneth Brown (Sainabou Jeng) of Atlanta, GA; four sisters in-law: Alma Jean Billingslea, Thelma Brown, Ernestine Stewart (David) and Edna Brown; one brother in-law: Henry Lee Roberts; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mr. Chester M. Brown Sr. will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Crosspointe Church.

David Rogers is the pastor. Nicholas Jennings will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
