Colleen Teresa Johnson Glover

November 8, 1952 — June 14, 2021

Austell

Colleen “Lynn” Johnson Glover was born in Valdosta, Georgia on November 8, 1952. She was the second oldest of six to Katie J. Johnson and the late Willie Clarence Johnson, Sr. The late Aunt Nona Whitter helped raise her along with her dear cousin, the late Pastor Alfred Colbert, Sr. She attended Magnolia Elementary and Lomax Jr. High in Valdosta, Georgia. Lynn attended Freewill Baptist church as a child with her family. Years later, she joined Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. William C. Morgan. She loved the Lord and always thanked God often for life, grace, mercy, and strength.

Later, Lynn moved to New York City and received her diploma at William Howard Taft High School in 1970.  After being in the “Big Apple'' and seeing what all it had to offer, she decided to enroll and attend the private Catholic College of New Roshelle, School of Resources.

She tried her hands at many things but felt most impactful in administrative roles at Warner Brothers, Bristol Myers, and US Comptroller of the Currency. Lynn also enjoyed styling her family and friends' hair from toddlers to adults with creative and healthy styles. This led to increasing her clientele which brought her much joy, fulfillment, and a host of added friendships.

Lynn loved to have fun and lived in the moment. She lit up every room with her beauty, style and southern charm like the Georgia peach she was. Regardless of the occasion, she loved to have a good time, whether it was a laugh, dancing, gatherings with family and friends or attending a Broadway show. Lynn was extraordinary with words due to her infatuation with word puzzles. I think she missed her calling as a writer.

On August 8, 1974, Lynn’s life changed forever. She and O.C. Joseph Thomas was blessed with their “Baby Girl” as she would always call her. When they looked into Tara Joy’s eyes it filled their hearts with so much happiness hence her middle name, Joy. Lynn practiced new and creative styles on her hair every chance she got. They shared an unbreakable bond and the support for each other was amazing. The two of them have been through a lot together but always managed to overcome all obstacles. As they always said to each other, “Love you beyond.”

Louis Glover and Lynn met in the 80’s through his aunt Pat Key, who was her neighbor and friend. After years of friendship, they began dating. On June 28, 1997, they got married. She will forever be the love of his life. The running joke amongst friends at the wedding was the Tyson vs. Holyfield “ear” fight that happened the same day, lol!

Lynn’s granddaughter and twin spirit, Trinity Kiara was born on November 3, 2000. “Angel Girl '' is what she called her. She was her personal baby doll as she would dress her up and style her hair every day. She was truly the joy of her life. They experienced many great times talking, singing, and enjoying one of Lynn’s favorites, cooking. They went everywhere together, and she never wanted to miss any event Trinity was a part of. Angel Girl was her everything.

In 2014, she relocated to Georgia to take care of her father in Americus. Once she nursed him back to good health, her husband decided to retire after 33 years, and they moved to Atlanta. She was ecstatic about living near her family, especially her loving and caring mother. She started her morning off calling her moma and a night call too. God forbid if she didn't answer, she would start harassing all the siblings near “where is moma? “she’s not answering.”

Lynn lived life to the fullest and had a beautiful spirit of love. She was called home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2021. Lynn was predeceased by her father, and both sets of grandparents.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Louis Glover; daughter, Tara Joy Peterson; stepdaughter, Jannee Glover; granddaughters, Trinity Kiara Collens and Jyra Graham; a devoted mother, Katie Johnson; siblings: Donald (Anita) Woods, Willie Johnson, Jr., Aaron (Bernice) Johnson, Brenda (Charles) Lipscomb , Anita (Matthew) Davis and Darryl Johnson; uncles and aunts: Andrew Johnson, Julius Johnson, Jessie Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, and Pauline Helath; nieces and nephews: Shunda, Michael, Bruce, Dwain, Keaton, Brandon, David, Evette, Christina, Theresa, Rodrick, Steven, Raina, Brenda, WC, III., Jerome, Jennifer, and Monica; in laws: Shelia, Ernestine, Martha Lee, Donald, and Ronald; with much love from Lynn, sisterhood of friends: Valerie, Sharon, Rachel, Lydia, and Salathia; Goddaughter: Shatina. Rachel, her “White Chocolate'' for all the years of helping while in New York and even after moving to Georgia; Kenya Myers, her “Sweet Pea” for taking great care of her in Atlanta; and a host of loving great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
