Cora Lee Pugh

March 10, 1942 — May 26, 2020

Valdosta

Mrs. Cora Lee Pugh was born March 10, 1942, in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Emmett and Elizabeth James.

During her childhood years, Cora attended Pinevale High School and graduated in 1959. She continued her education at Valdosta Tech in the Nursing Program.

A few years later, Cora met the love of her life Mr. Willie Frank Pugh. He realized she was the only one for him and asked her to marry him. On August 27, 1966, the two became one and remained married until his death in May 2002.

She was a loving and virtuous woman who touched the lives of many from far and near. Her hands of generosity were always stretched forth blessing those in need. She believed in hard work and did so by running a successful business for over 30 years with her husband, Mr. Willie Frank Pugh. Together, they were great business leaders in the community.   Commitment and Faithfulness were other strong traits she possessed and her family and friends could always count on her being there for them. Although Cora was a petite woman, she was feisty and would tackle any situation head on. With love, she knew what to say.

She was the patriarch of her family as well as the family historian. If anyone in the family had a question and needed an answer regarding their ancestral roots, she was the one they went to. Cora was so many things to her family. She encouraged them to do well and be the best they could be. She provided financial support to several students and sent them to college. She was a counselor to the children, young adults, and married couples, and friends. If you needed advice or was having a problem, Mrs. Pugh was the one to talk to.

Serving her community was not beyond her reach, she was a former member of the American Legion Post 503 and the Amvets Post 607 Auxiliaries. Her greatest love and service was for her local church. Cora was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church and was a member of the Circle #2 Auxiliary. Oh how she loved her church family and pastor. She loved the Lord and devoted herself to reading and studying the Word. Of God. Her favorite scripture reading was Psalm 27 and it was what she lived by daily.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Mrs. Cora Lee Pugh was called to a place of eternal rest.
