David McQueen, age 55, was born May 17, 1961 in Fargo, GA to Mrs. Bessie Mae McQueen and the late Mr. Marion McQueen II.
Not only was David a great son, he was an awesome brother, father and friend. He loved life and his family. He greatly enjoyed and always look forward to family gatherings. He was a great provider, mentor and confident. His life was full of loving deeds, forever thoughtful of everyone else’s needs. Not only was David a guardian of his family he was a guardian of freedom and the American way of life. He answered the inward call to his country by enlisting in the National Guard and retired after providing over 20 years of service.
On May 29, 2016, this good soldier received his final command to be at ease and to take his rest.
In addition to his father he is preceded by special family members: Willie B. McQueen, Elnora McQueen, Louisa Williams, Bert McKinney, Bonnie McQueen, Hezekiah Barrett, Walter Daniels, Alonzo McQueen, Sidney Bivins, Jr., and April Wallace.
Retired Ssgt. David McQueen leaves his legacy of strength, determination, and love to his mother: Bessie Mae McQueen; six children: Arcacia McQueen, Marquita McQueen, David McQueen, Jr., Maurice S. McQueen, Lewis Clark, Corey Clark; five sisters: Elnora Hunter (Dewayne), Betty Straughter (Otis), Annie D. Patterson (Joe), Barbara McGhee (Zay), Tammy Peak (Jerome); four brothers: Marion McQueen, Jr. (Dearlene), Johnny Jones (Paula), Reginald McQueen, Sr. (Shonda), and Johnny Williams (Thelma); a host of aunts and uncles: Betty McDougal, Gloria Dorvilus (Oxone), Julia Barrett, Glen Barrett (Lillie), Carl Daniel, Tammy Bonner, and Richard McQueen; seventeen grandchildren; special friends: Eric, C.J., Jim, 240, Big Will, CeCe, Lil Will, Vereen, Kelsaw, Spud, Jermaine R. Bread, Terrell, Kenny F., Lonnie, Tommy, Andrea, Vick, Bully, Terrance, Ervan, and T-Bird; two devoted friends: Lorretta King and Charlie Mae Porter; his National Guard family, and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who loved him so much.
The Celebration of life for the late Mr. David McQueen will be held Saturday, June 4,2016, at 3:00pm from the sanctuary of Kingdom Builders Deliverance Center.
Bishop Adrian Rivers is the pastor.
Pastor Bernard Robinson, Sr. will officiate.
Interment will follow in Pallbearers Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, June 3, 2016, from 12:00pm - 8:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
