Deacon Johnnie Coleman Kier

April 17, 1940 — March 27, 2012

Born April 17, 1940 in Valdosta, GA to the late Lester Kier, Sr. and Sarah Kier, Deacon Kier departed this life on March 27, 2012.

He married his beautiful angel, Gloria Kier on September 24, 1988.

Deacon Johnnie C. Kier was a man of sound doctrine with a spirit of excellence. He was dedicated, faithful, and a loyal member of the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, under the Pastoral Leadership of Rev. Alvin Carter, for over twenty two years; he served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School Ministry, Church Custodian, a member of the Pallbearer Ministry and a member of the Senior Choir. Deacon Kier, love the call of the Deacon’s Ministry that he assisted. He trained numerous other Deacons in this surrounding area teaching them to give God the glory and to give God their best.

Deacon Johnnie C. Kier was preceded in death by his parents: Lester Kier, Sr. and Sarah Kier; father and mother in-law: Enlaw and Johnnie Mae Donaldson; four children: Johnnie Harris, Janet Manning, Aaron Manning and Robert Manning; three brothers: Larry Kier, Sr.,Lester Kier, Jr., and Horace Kier; three sisters: Almarene Kier, Hazel Kier and Quincy Kier; two sisters-in-law: Mae Audrey Hanks and Grace Daniels; five brothers-in-law: Samuel Donaldson, Joseph Donaldson, Leo Donaldson, and Larry Donaldson and one nephew: Larry Kier.

Deacon Johnnie C. Kier was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He also had some devoted friends whom were very special to him namely: Ramona Wing, Doretha Duncan, Rita Wolf, Sarah Stewart, Juanita Zanders, Gloria Hitson, his Pastor, Rev. Alvin Carter and First Lady, Min. Betty Carter.

He will forever remain in the hearts of his caring, loving, devoted wife of 23 years, Deaconess Gloria Kier of Valdosta, GA; two daughters: Chandlyn Terrell of Valdosta, GA and Gloria (Andre) Bute of Miami, FL; two sons: Shawn Kier of Valdosta, GA and Aaron (Tonia) Manning of Alaska; one sister: Thelma Bradley of Valdosta, GA; six sisters-in-law: Barbara (Frank) Davis, Patricia (Rev. Cecil) Brown, Betty Herring, Alice Kier, and Blossie Gurley; one brother-in-law: Robert Donaldson (Francis Rose); two special god-daughters: Evelyn (Dr. Charles E.) Vinson and Cynthia (Rev. Ernest) Usher; two aunts; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

The homegoing celebration for Deacon Kier will be held Sunday, April 1,2012 at 3pm from the sanctuary of Evergreen Baptist Church. Rev. Alvin Carter will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Payton AME Church Cemetery.
