Mrs. Doris Ann Lewis

Doris Ann Lewis, age 61, of Valdosta, Georgia, was born August 26, 1953 in Virginia Beach, VA to the late James Nelson and the late Doreatha Nelson.

In the hearts of those who loved her, Doris will always be remembered. Every day in some way, her presence will be missed. We will miss her love, words of wisdom and her caring ways. She was a mentor, confident and a source of strength for her family. Though at times, she could be very out-spoken and stern, she always had her families best interest at heart. While Doris, rest and sleep, her loving memory we will always keep.

On Monday, January 26, 2015, Doris transitioned, resting where no shadows fall, in peaceful sleep she answered the Master’s call. God will link the broken chain, when one by one we will meet again.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother: Willie Howard and her grandparents: Louise and Bob Mitchell.

Doris leaves to cherish her memories, her husband: Virgil Lewis, Sr.; four children: Marcus Nelson, Virgil Lewis, Jr., Ericka Cooper (Gregory Gary Sr.), all of Valdosta, GA and Latrell Evans (Anthony Henderson) of Augusta, GA; one brother: Tommy McMillian (Doris); one aunt: Bobby Jean Williams; one uncle: Kenneth Hallback; special cousins: Dr. Geneva W. Hollinds, Sarah Goffigan, Min. Betty Lewis, Jack Wallace, Vera Evans, Barbara Mitchell Alford, Tina Mitchell and Winston Bivins; special friends: Elaine Johnson, Jacquelyn Hogan and Mosetta Shivers; one godson: Steven Craig Johnson; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eleven sisters in-law; one brother in-law; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Doris Ann Lewis will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00pm from the sanctuary of Woodlawn Church of Christ.

Bro. Leroy Butler is the minister.

Bro. Andre Norwood will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Pallbearers Cemetery.
