Mrs. Doris M. Taylor

March 7, 1933 — May 2, 2017

Doris Miley Taylor was born March 7, 1933 in Hahira, GA, to the late Mrs. Estell Foster Miley and the late Mr. Frank Miley. She received her education in the Lowndes County School System and continued her education at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. Doris was wedded to the late Mr. James William Taylor on April 8, 1978. God blessed this union of thirty (30) years with five children: Georgean, Pauline, Henry Jr., Marcella and Allen. Doris retired from the United States Government after more than thirty years of service. Her hobbies included: baking, bowling, sewing, crafts, gardening flowers, making and selling baskets, and vinyl records on Ebay. Doris was a very active member of Folsom CME Church in Hahira, GA. In the words of many, Doris was the church! She served in various auxiliaries: Member of the Senior Choir, the Missionary Society, and the Trustee Board where she served as Secretary and Treasurer.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, God looked around His garden and He found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth and saw her precious face. He put His arms around her and lifted her unto rest; God’s garden must be beautiful for He only takes the best.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris is preceded in death by one son: Henry Johnson, Jr.; one daughter: Marcella Smith; and two brothers: Willie Miley and Frank Miley.

Doris leaves to mourn her passing, yet celebrate her life, her three children: Georgean Burton, Pauline Bell and Allen Johnson (Paula); six brothers: Fred Miley (Delores), Robert Miley (Geneva), Owen Miley (Carolyn), Charles Miley (Leila), Raymond Miley (Shirley) and Jimmy Miley (Betty); one aunt: Lala Matchett; a special friend: Esther Brasewell; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and family friends.
