Ms. Dorothy Jean Thomas Drye was born on December 5, 1960 to the late Herbert H. Thomas and late Flora A. Thomas in Valdosta, GA.
She was a loyal and strong person, who always put the needs of others before her own. Her spirit was of great humility and she showed great appreciation of God’s goodness. A servant at heart, she was faithful in whatever she put her hands to do. Just like her father, who retired from PCA after 30 years of service, Dorothy was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked for the same company over 18 years.
Dorothy’s hands of service also extended within the church. She was a faithful member of “The Victory Church” in Hahira, GA. Her love for God was clear by the service she rendered to the church and to those in need.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, God granted Dorothy eternal rest from her earthly labor.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents; three sisters: Mary Thomas, Martha Thomas, and Geneva Thomas.
She leaves cherished memories to her five children: Demetrice Thomas (Belinda), LaKesha Thomas, Shameka Drye, all of Valdosta, GA, Regina Drye (Marcus), and Jasmine Kier (Travis) both of Atlanta, GA.; two nieces who were like her children: Felicia Allen and Tomekia Thomas; eight grandchildren: Sierra Griffin, Brittany Thomas, Jamual Henry, Khalil Thomas, Akeem Washington, Jaylon Brown, Serenity George, and Shakur Thomas; three sisters: Florine Wilcox (Charles), Hahira, GA, Janice Austin, Valdosta, GA, and Philistine Dempsey (George), Macon, GA; three brothers: Herbert Thomas, Jr. (Annette), Cornelious Thomas (Gloria), and Jimmy Thomas (Sharon) all of Valdosta, GA; two aunts: Agnes Mitchell, Quitman, GA and Lucille Grant, St. Petersburg, FL; a special friend: Robert Kier, Jr., Valdosta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
