Dortha Marshall

Mrs. Dortha Marshall, age 67,formerly of Benton Harbor, MI, passed this life on Saturday January 22, 2011 at her residence in Valdosta, GA.

Dortha, the lovely daughter of the late Mr. Booker T. Washington Sr. and Mrs. Lovie P. Washington was born on February 19, 1943 in Morriston, MO. On January 22, 2011, God dispatched an angel who quietly granted Dortha rest.

Dortha was preceeded in death by her Father: Booker T. Washington, Sr; Brother: Lawrence Washington and her Grandparents: Felix and Rosie Jones.

She leaves to cherish her love, dignity, grace, and smile a loving husband of sixteen years: Joe Marshall, Sr.; Six Step-Children: Joe Marshall, Jr, Demarcus A. (Regina) Marshall, Deanna (Dana) Smith, Kelisha Marshall, Brandon Marshall and Taryn Marshall.; her Mother: Lovie P. Washington; two Sisters: Ella (Bevan) Scott and Maggie Hines; three Brothers: Booker T. (Anna) Washington, Jr, George Washington and Antonio Washington; one special Uncle: Melvin Marshall; Fifteen Grandchildren; Eleven sister-in-laws; Ten brother-in-laws; a host of sorrowing aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dortha Marshall will be on Sunday January 30, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of Morning Star M. B. Church, 1051 Howell Road, Valdosta, GA. Dr. William C. Morgan, pastor, will be presiding and the Rev. James E. Baker will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta, GA.
