Mrs. Effie Brooks Griffin

Effie Brooks Griffin was born July 18, 1933 in Quitman, Georgia to the late Raymond Brooks and the late Goldie Neloms Brooks.

Effie was a faithful and loving mother and grandmother—friend to all. She nurtured her children with the love of Christ, discipline them with care and wisdom and trained them in the way they should go. She was a homemaker and used hospitality to minister to those around her by creating an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love. She also served the Lord faithfully and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, Effie is preceded in death by her husband: Mose Calvin Griffin I; two children: Randy Griffin and Lindsay Hundley; her brother: Albert Brooks I; and a brother-in-law: Will Turner.

Effie Brooks Griffin leaves precious memories to her children: Mose Calvin Griffin II (Beatrice) of Valdosta, Georgia, Barbara Ann Griffin Joyce of Valdosta, Georgia, Marie Hundley Minor (Fidel, Sr.) of Houston, Texas, Deloris Hundley Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina, Thomas Christopher Hundley of Valdosta, Georgia, Carlos DeShawn Hundley (Moniqueka) of Valdosta, Georgia, and Kimberly Nicole Griffin of Hungtington, West Virginia; two sisters: Joyce Brown of Apalachicola, Florida and Betty Christian Turner of Quitman, Georgia; a special friend: Leroy Johnson of Valdosta, Georgia; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Effie Brooks Griffin will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:00am from the sanctuary of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Dr. David Adams is the pastor and will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Pallbearers Cemetery.
