Elder Charles Elson Dunson

June 3, 1935 — April 21, 2019

Valdosta

Elder Charles Elson Dunson was born June 3, 1935, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Vivian Thomas and the late Willie Edwards.

Elder Dunson was a man excellence: a husband we could learn from, a father we could respect, and a man of God worthy of honor. As described by his family, Elder Dunson was a man who loved deeply, worked hard to provide for his family, showed himself friendly through kindness and compassion and left a life-lasting impression on all who knew him.

Believing that marriage was intended to be a lifelong commitment and not a feeling, he pledged himself to Virginia Dunson whom he could be heard lovingly calling her “honey.” He never let a day go by without saying to his wife, “I Love You Baby”. He loved his wife as Christ loved the church. Throughout their marriage, children were added and Elder Dunson became a father who loved, adored and encouraged his children to be all that God had predestined them to be. Not only did he demonstrate a great love for his children but to all who knew him. He was fondly known as “Papa” by family members and church members.

Taking full spiritual responsibility of his life, Elder Dunson answered the call of pastor and served several churches while residing in the state of Florida. After relocating to Valdosta, GA, in 2009, Elder Dunson became a faithful member of Pentecostal House of Prayer. His favorite scriptures were Luke 10:19 and Psalm 23.

On Sunday, April 21, the Lord declared, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant...enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Elder Charles Dunson leaves his legacy of love and cherished memories to his wife: Virginia Dunson; his eight children: Bridget Williams of Orlando, FL; Brian Dunson (Ann) of Dallas, TX, Anthony Armstron of Deland, FL, Sharon Armstrong of Eustis, FL, Phyllis Dunson of Syracuse, NY, Chantres Matthews (Ellis) of Deland, FL, Monique Delaney (Kenneth) of Palm Coast, FL and Angela Layne (Lynford) of Palm Coast, FL; five sisters-in-law: Sandra West of Atlanta, GA, Boletha Jarrett of Orlando, FL, Paula Foust, Lovie Foust and Carolyn Dill, all of Valdosta, GA; thirty two grandchildren; thirty four great-grandchildren; five brothers-in-law: Joe Brockington and Virgil Williams, both of Orlando, FL, Dornal Foust of Fort Worth, TX, Yaucy Williams of Ft.
