Erma Jean Butler

Mother Erma Jean Tooley Butler, age 71, of 713 Cypress Street, Valdosta, GA, was born to the late Deacon Hattie and Mother Mamie Wilson Tooley. She was the second born of ten siblings. She was married to the late Hosea Butler, Sr. To this union, four children were born: Maggie, Norma Jean, Barbara, and Hosea, Jr. Mother Erma Jean Tooley Butler was called home to be with the Lord on Friday July 9, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Deacon Hattie and Mother Mamie Wilson Tooley, her husband, Hosea Butler, Sr., and her siblings, Joe Curtis Tooley and Dorothy Lane.
She leaves to cherish her memory four beautiful children: Maggie Pearl Woods (Alexander II) of Valdosta, GA, Norma Jean Barry (Keith) of Jacksonville, FL, Evangelist Barbara Jean Bell (Bobby) of Valdosta, GA, and Minister Hosea Butler, Jr. (Vicki) of Santonio, TX; six grand-children: Keyuna Bynes (Anthony), Marcus Booker-Butler (Martha), Alexander Woods III, Hosea Butler, III (Jennifer), Destiny Bell, James Butler; thirteen great grandchildren; seven siblings: Missionary Mary Lee Sherman, Bishop John Tooley, Sr. (Betty), Eddie Will Tooley, Deacon Freddie Tooley, Sr. (Hilda), Pastor Hattie Tooley-Wade of Toccoa, GA; Clifford Tooley of Albany, GA, and Chloe A. Tooley; in-laws: Membalene Scott (Melvin) of Orlando, FL, Vermatene Moore, of Valdosta, GA, Jacqueline Walker, of Atlanta, GA, Janice Brady (Clinton), of Atlanta, GA, and Deacon Robert C. Butler (Gussie); close associates, Missionary Daisy Fiveash and Ella Jean Neloms; Godchildren: Prophet Michael Little, Annie Gray Felder, Cornell Litman, Tyrone Godwin, and Pamela Bess; and a host of cousins, special Christian friends, and extended families.

Funeral services will be on Saturday July 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the sanctuary of Greater Mt. Carmel HOGSIC, 1106 Lake Park Road, Valdosta. Pastor David M. Northcutt, Sr. Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends on this evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Godfrey Funeral Home.
