Etta Laeshonne Jackson was born to Bettie and Willie Jackson, September 29, 1973 in Miami Dade County, FL.
She received her education in the Dade County school system. She later enrolled in Job Corps where she received her GED with a concentration in cosmetology.
Etta moved to Valdosta, GA in 2001. She was employed by LaQuinta Inn Hotel as a desk clerk. She worked there until her health began to fail. Etta was a fun person and loved styling hair. She had a great sense of humor. Her kitchen was the home of good ole’ fashion cakes. “Shan” loved her grandkids. Though she will be missed, she will NEVER be forgotten.
Recognizing she needed a Savior, she attended church with Mr. & Mrs. Neloms of Valdosta, GA.
Etta was granted eternal rest, Tuesday, June 29, 2014.
Etta leaves to cherish her memories, her parents: Bettie and Willie Jackson of Valdosta, GA; three children: LaTovia Jackson, LaTravia Jackson (Deonte) and Alonzo McPherson all of Valdosta, GA; three grandchildren: Amarie Whettsone, Lee’Nae Jackson and Deonte Thomas, Jr. all of Valdosta, GA; two sisters: Alicia Lott (Shaun) of Lithonia, GA and Chimere Nickson of Valdosta, GA; one brother: Carl Waters (BettyAnn) of Homestead, FL; one grandmother: Lenora Waters; five half-sisters: Shalene Brown, Teresa Howard, Shanova Stanley, Whitney Jackson all of Tifton, GA and Cynthia Mitchell all of Valdosta, GA; four half-brothers: Willie Jackson Jr. (Erica), Jodrick Jackson, James Jackson (Galia) all of Tifton, GA, and Stacey Washington of Stone Mountain, GA; a host of aunts: Doris Cephus, Hazel Edgecomb, Jackie Waters, Atherine Williams, Carolyn Thomas and Georigann Jackson; a host of uncles: James Waters, Richard Waters, Leslie Copeland, Aaron Jackson, Edward Jackson and Morgan Jackson; two nephews: Courtney and Devin; one godson: Devonta Cowart; special nephew: Jerrell Cannon; special cousins: Jaboria Render, April Edgecomb and Akeria Arnold; special friends: Emma, Tysha, Yolonda Jones, Shareea Rogers, Charles Robinson and Sherman Cowart; and a host of family and friends.
The celebration of life for the late Ms. Etta Laeshonne Jackson will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 2:00pm from the sanctuary of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Dr. Charles E. Vinson, Sr. will officiate.
Public viewing will be held Friday, July 4, 2014 from 10:00am - 6:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home
