Mrs. Eudorice "Bootsie" Fluit was born November 14, 1936, in Valdosta, GA, to the late Mrs. Samuel L. Stafford and Mrs. Alto Bell Stafford.
Eudorice was a graduate of Lowndes County Training High School of Valdosta, GA. She was united in marriage on October 19, 1955, to the late Mr. Morris Akins, Sr. and they moved to Cincinnati, OH. From this union, two beautiful children were born; son, Morris Akins, Jr. and a daughter, Michelle’ Wright Handy.
While living in Cincinnati, Eudorice received her training in Culinary Arts. She was a dedicated employee at HABIGS Inc. as head chief for over 33 years. Three years after the passing of Morris, Sr., Bootsie moved back to Valdosta, GA and was united in marriage to the late Mr. Charles E. Fluit.
She departed this life on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the Presbyterian Home of Quitman, GA.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she is preceded in death by her six siblings: Dorothy Boyd, Emily Belchie, Emory Stafford, Williams Stafford, Georgie Riley and Samuel Stafford.
Eudorice leaves to cherish her memory, two loving children, her son: Morris Akins, Jr. (Renee) of Cincinnati, OH, her daughter: Michelle’ Wright Handy (Michael) of Valdosta, GA; five grandchildren: LaTasha Wright, Valerie Wright of Valdosta, GA, Julian Akins of Oakland, CA, Jarrett Akins and Briona Akins of Cincinnati, OH; one great-grandson: Roderick D. Fountain, Jr of Valdosta, GA; one brother: Harold (Pop) Stafford (Betty) of Trenton Falls, NJ; a special sister-in-law: Carnetha Washington; two special nieces: Brenda Sermons (Danny) and Cheryl Williams, a special friend: Irene Strickland; and a host of her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Eudorice "Bootsie" Stafford Akins Fluit will be Saturday, June 30, 2018, 11:00 A.M., from the sanctuary of Mt. Vienna A.M.E. Church, 4880 Vienna Church Rd, Valdosta. The Reverend Renee' Gee-Theophille is pastor and Minister Daniel Sermons will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Vienna Church Cemetery.
Public viewing will be Friday, June 29, 2018, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home.
