Mrs. Eva Mae Jones

November 20, 1928 — April 16, 2017

Eva Mae Howard Jones, age 88 of Valdosta, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was born to the late Clarence Howard, Sr. and Abbie P. Howard Knight on November 20, 1928.

Eva lived her entire life in Valdosta where she was educated and raised her eight children. She was very active in the community and well-known by her smile and her warm and kind heart. She was a believer in God and active in her faith serving as mother and support to many. She was a devoted mother. To her children she was a "shero", strong, brave and fearless. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Her love was never doubted, but strengthen by the example she exemplified as a capable woman.

Eva thoroughly enjoyed cooking and was a master at creating the most soulful and delicious dishes. She later attended Valdosta Technical College to further develop her cake making skills, and became sought out in the community for the specialty cakes, especially wedding cakes, but her pound cakes remained the best-seller.

Eva is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Jones and son, Ronnie A. Adkins, three sisters and three brothers.

She leaves to cherish her life, love, and memories four daughters: Annie J. Harris (Lascelle), Cora L. Lane, Odessa M. Anthony (Uster), Carolyn M. Campbell; and three sons: Ralph J. Moss, Sr., Clarence I. Moss, and Kenneth D. Adkins; five sisters: Margaret L. Jackson, Idella L. Cheatham, Nellie Mae Knight, Ruth H. Johns (Homer), and Linda M. Demps; three brothers: Claude Howard (Eloise), Willie B. Knight (Geneva), and Nathaniel Knight. She was blessed to have her children extend her family with 50 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren, all of who loved her dearly and will miss her warm and loving care.

The celebration of life for the late Mrs. Eva Mae Jones will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00am in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in the New Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

Bro. Uster Anthony Jr. will officiate.

Public viewing will be Friday, April 21st, 10:00am to 8:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
