Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Mae Smith, age 89, of Valdosta, GA, will be held Saturday October 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the sanctuary of Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ, 1515 N. Forrest Street, Valdosta, GA. Min. Leroy Butler is pastor and Bro. Andre’ Norwood will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Public viewing will be on Friday October 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the chapel of Godfrey Funeral Home on Friday October 22, from 6 to 7 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.godfreyfuneralhome.net. At the age of twelve years of age she joined the Church of Christ
A Time to be Blessed:
I thanked the Lord and made peace one day to forgive me of my sins when I went astray. Each night before I went to sleep I thanked God for His love and peace. Please don’t mourn or weep for me, for I know God has taken my soul to keep. The troubles of this world I have laid down, I’m going to live with Jesus, Heavenly bound.

God called His child home to her final resting place early Friday morning, October 15, 2010.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three loving children: Homer D. Sturgis of Valdosta, Elizabeth Sturgis Pittman (Reginald) of Atlanta, GA and Ruby S. Brinkley of Valdosta; Seven grandchildren: Daphne Brinkley and Stacey B. Foster (Anthony) of Valdosta, William Brinkley Jr of Jacksonville, FL, Felicia Dixon (Freddie) and Tommy Lester (Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA, Stephanie Clines and Jeremy Grant of Valdosta, GA; Fifteen great grandchildren: Alexis Brinkley, Kristin Brinkley, Taylor Foster, Haley Foster, Mariah Jones, Maliyah Jones, Mya Sturgis, Milan Sturgis, Hope Clines and Joshua Clines all of Valdosta, Austin Prease, Drew Dixon, Lauren Dixon, Temple Lester and Addison Mays of Atlanta, GA; and a host of devoted and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
She was preceded in death by Three sisters: Grace Holmes, Ruthie Lee Sirmans and Mary Jane Thompson; Two Brothers: Barry Thompson and Joe Cooper; One granddaughter: Jennifer Patrice Sturgis and One great grandson: Master Khayree Jones
