Evelyn Roberts Brown

August 30, 1942 — September 14, 2013

Evelyn Roberts Brown was born to the late Ernest Roberts and the late Clara Ward Roberts August 30, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA.

She was very caring and loved people - never met a stranger. She was a mentor, confidant and friend, someone on whose love you could depend.

On October 3, 1962 the Lord allowed Evelyn to experience the joy of becoming the wife of Chester Brown, Sr. They were indeed inseparable. To this union were five children whom she loved so much and only wanted the best for them. Evelyn taught her children how to be strong, independent, take care of each other and how to make a dollar stretch! In her presence was fullness of joy: good cooking, eating, dancing, and laughter. She was truly an amazing woman, one of life’s best gifts, a treasure like no other.

Later in life, Evelyn would come to know the joyful sound of God’s voice. She loved the Lord and God’s people. The fruit of the spirit were manifested in her life. Her life was full of loving deeds.

The Lord called Evelyn from labor to reward on September 14, 2013.

She leaves to remember her special smile, caring heart and warm embrace: her husband of 50 years, Chester M. Brown, Sr. of Valdosta, GA; five children: John Brown (Frances) of Detroit, MI, Al Brown of Valdosta, GA, Chester Brown, Jr. (Jacqueline) of Detroit, MI, Debra Jennings (Nicholas) and Reginald Brown of Valdosta, GA; two sisters: Ernestine Stewart (David) and Edna Brown of Valdosta, GA; one brother: Henry Lee Roberts of Valdosta, GA: four sisters in-law: Dorothy Mitchell, Alma Jean Billingslea, Thelma Brown and Inez Roberts; one brother in-law: Kenneth Brown (Sainabou Jeng); fifteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

The homegoing celebration for Mrs. Evelyn Roberts Brown will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 3:00pm from the sanctuary of New Life Ministries.

Dr. Angela Prescott will officiate.
