Evelyn Mcfarland Tucker

Evelyn M. Tucker, 85, began her eternal life on December 03, 2010. She was born on May 27, 1925 to the late Mr. Lawrence Brooks McFarland and the late Mrs. Georgia McFarland in Lowndes County.

She was married to her beloved Eddie B. Tucker, her friend and sweetheart for 63 years. Together, they raised three wonderful children — Theresa, Jerome and Laverne in addition to a special niece and nephews — Rader, Clint, Barbara and Bobby — all being the light of their lives.

Evelyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother who was deeply committed to her family. She was also devoted to her favorite hobby—gardening. Her winning smile, love and humor will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church and community.

She leaves to celebrate her life and continue her legacy her Husband: Eddie B. Tucker; Daughter: Theresa (William) Clark; Son: Jerome (Rosa) Tucker: Grandchildren: Valerie, Salivia, Sabrina, Reginald, Laticia, Iesha, TaShonda, Eric, Tori and Jeremy; Ten great-grandchildren; Four great great-grandchildren; Four sister in-laws: Luneal Tucker, Shirley Tucker, Leila McFarland and Mildred McFarland; One brother in-law: Jimmy Wiggins; Three special friends: Catherine Rawls, Maggie King and Mary Lee Jones; the Newsome Street Church of Christ family and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter (Laverne), Five brothers and Four sisters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn M. Tucker will be on Friday December 10, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of Southside Church of Christ, 1198 Old Statenville Road, Valdosta. Bro. John Iverson will be presiding and Bro. Gene Godfrey will be officiating. Interment will follow at the McFarland Cemetery. Public viewing will be today (Thursday Dec. 9th) from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Godfrey Funeral Home, 636 River Street, Valdosta. Public viewing will resume on Friday morning (Dec. 10th) from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.godfreyfuneralhome.net. Godfrey Funeral Home, LLC of Valdosta, GA is in charge of the arrangements.
