Frances J. Rose Donaldson was born into this world on July 23, 1944, to the late Christine and William Rose in Brooklyn, NY. Her siblings, nieces and nephews called her Wennie and her younger brother affectionately called her Geno. Her desire was always to help people and she attended Sarah J. Hale High School for Nursing to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She was a foster parent for over 15 years with Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York. She was employed as a keypunch operator for Bank Leumi in New York, NY, Ceto in New York, NY and Liberty Electric in Brooklyn, NY. She made a decision one day to go back to school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Menorah Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Brooklyn until she relocated to Valdosta, GA. Once she moved to Valdosta, she continued to pursue her passion and worked at South Georgia Medical Center and Heritage House Nursing Home.
Frances never met a stranger; she was kind, compassionate, fun, loving, she loved to engage in conversation and she had a big heart. She opened her home and her heart to those who were in need allowing several people to live with her over the years and she had many foster children who still refer to as Mom and their children call her grandma. She loved talking to and spending time with her brothers and sisters and looked forward to traveling to New York and Maryland during the summer. Spending time with her family and friends, checking in on Ms. Nora, and cooking made her happy. Her love of cooking and baking (she a Betty Crocker baking contest) made the holidays her favorite time of the year. She loved hard and her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, her Dosta gymnastics family, her foster sons, church family and her beloved Prince were the recipients of that love.
Frances was a survivor, she survived breast cancer twice and no matter how much pain she was in she refused to complain. Even when we could see she was in pain and tried to fight the tears, she would say she was okay. She made the best out of every day that God blessed her to see. After being informed that her cancer had returned and spread, she continued to forge ahead until it became too difficult. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and continued to pray through it all that His perfect will would be done.
Frances is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Robert Donaldson; her children: Dinneen Beswick Wills (Troy), Tenika Rose, Greg Rose, Jareen Lancaster (Ronnie), Danielle Rose, Marcus Howell, Brian Howell, Dellisha Countryman-Loman, Rodney Countryman (Rochele), Kimberly Donaldson and Yvette Donaldson; her brothers and sisters: William Brady (Josephine), Evelyn Bressant, William Rose (Mary), Rosemary Rose (Joe) and Robert Rose (Constance); 23 grandchildren: 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; two Godsons: Bryant Johnson and James Johnson; four sister in-laws: Gloria Kier, Betty Herring, Barbara Davis (Frank) and Patricua Brown (Cecil).
