Geneva B. Robinson

Mrs. Geneva Robinson departed this life on September 10, 2020. She was born into this blessed life on September 1, 1945 in the town of Lake City, Florida, to the late Willie Lee Barkley, Jr and the late Gussie Lee Floyd. She worked for the Lowndes County School System for eight years and as a caretaker and housekeeper for over 40 years. She was married to the late George Allen Robinson.

She loved spending time with family, friends, and her favorite sister, Annie Ruth, doing puzzle books, traveling, sports, and listening to gospel music. She was our rock and matriarch and fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She has left a legacy of her love, respect, honor, integrity, and perseverance.

Geneva loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind, and soul, she also loved her church, New Life Ministries, where she was a dedicated member and she loved her church family.

On Thursday, September 10, the Lord commanded the body of His daughter, Geneva Barkley Robinson to rest from its labor and to enter into thou Master’s joy.

In addition to her parents, Geneva is preceded in death by her husband: George Allen Robinson; one son: Eric Robinson; two sisters: Diane Floyd and Shirley Floyd; two brothers: Willie Lee Floyd, Jr and Charles Barkley; grandparents: Buster and Lula Lenox and Norman and Vertis Foster; three aunts: Olivia Cowart, Freddie Mae Davis, and Lillian Robinson; one sister in-law: Claretha Robinson Brown; and three brothers-in-law: Johnnie Hostick, Kemp Robinson, and Mack Robinson.

Left to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories are four children: Patricia Carter of McDonough, GA, Kirk Robinson of Phoenix, AZ, Darrell Robinson (Monique) of Valdosta, GA, and Jeffrey Robinson (Sharette) of Valdosta, GA; one daughter in-law: Charlette Robinson of Valdosta, GA; two sisters: Annie Hostick of Lake City, FL, and Clara Floyd (Tony) of Baltimore, MD; one brother: Alford Lee Floyd of Lake City, FL; one brother in-law: Johnny Robinson of Valdosta, GA; seven granddaughters: Erica Roundtree (Shawn), TyKira Bradley, Patricia McBride, Sophie Robinson, Evetta Robinson, Angel and D’Neydra Johnson; five grandsons: Darrell D. Robinson (Takari), George Robinson, Travis Robinson (Kia), Eric Robinson, Jr. (Nikki), and Dirk Oliver; twenty-two great grandchildren; her nieces and nephews: Sharon (Johnny) Teresa (David), Virginia (CJ), Valencia, and Johnny Jr (Shonda); and a host of other special relatives, love ones and sorrowing friends.

Graveside service for the late Mrs. Geneva Barkley Robinson, will be Friday, September 18, 2020, 11:00 a.m., Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta.

Pastor J. Bernard Braswell, II, Senior Pastor of New Life Ministries, will officiate.

Public viewing will be Thursday, September 17, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home.

All those who wish to pay their respect in person must wear a mask during visitation and at the gravesite.
