Mr. Gilbert Darnell Royal

Gilbert Darnell “Dee” Royal transitioned into eternal rest on March 25, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dee was born on July 22, 1961 to Charlie & Lillian Royal in Hampton, Virginia. He graduated Hampton High School in Virginia in 1979 and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. He served our country for 24 years as a Master Sergeant in the Security Forces sector before retiring. After his retirement from the military, Dee worked for the State of Georgia’s Department of Labor as a Veteran’s Representative.

Dee was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Wilbert Royal.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his mother Lillian Ward Royal of Dudley, NC; his two beloved sons GeCorrie (Katie) Royal of Kyle, TX and Darnell (Jessica) Royal of Gainesville, FL; four beautiful grandchildren, Mackenzie, Raygen, Isabella & Ava of Kyle, TX; one brother and four sisters, Wilbert Royal of Waynesboro, VA; Sylvia (Reginald) Evans of Portsmouth, VA; Lynn Royal of Hampton, VA; LaRonda Barnes of Hampton, VA; Lisa Richardson of Fremont, NC; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

The celebration of life for the late Mr. Gilbert D. Royal will be held Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:00am in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Tallahassee National Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL.
