Gloria Jean Bullard

Gloria Jean Cain Bullard was born December 19, 1934, to the late Johnny Cain and Mattie W. Harper. After a brief illness, Gloria transitioned on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from Langdale Hospice House to reside with her Heavenly Father.

Gloria graduated from Dasher High School, Valdosta, Georgia and was a proud member of the class of 1951. She worked as an insurance agent and as a food service worker. Gloria retired from Valdosta State University after more than twenty years of service.

Recognizing she needed a Savior, Gloria accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of St. John A.M.E. Church. Her service to the church included the Missionary Board, Trustee Board, Usher Board and singing in the choir. Gloria remained faithful until her health would no longer allow.

On April 28, 2007, Gloria was united in holy matrimony with her former classmate, Benjamin Bullard, Sr. They were blessed with nine years of marriage before Ben was called home July 1, 2016.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son: Ronald Cain (Cynthia) of Midland, Georgia; one granddaughter: Eva Cain of Rincon, Georgia; one grandson: Stephen Smiley of Atlanta, Georgia; two great-grandchildren: Chanel Cain and Marquis Johnson; her stepchildren: Ben, Jr., Michelle, Brian, Rodney Bruce; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Gloria Jean Bullard will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00pm from the sanctuary of St. John A.M.E. Church.

Rev. Kelly Faulk is the pastor and will officiate.

Rev. George Vereen will do words of comfort.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Friday, January 5, 2018, 12:00pm to 8:00pm, at Godfrey Funeral Home.
