Gloria Lee Durden

Mrs. Gloria Lee Royal Durden was born November 13, 1940, to the late Willie Mae Royal and the late Nathaniel Ferguson.

Gloria was a sweet and loving person. Because she loved the Lord and sought his will for her life and strived daily to follow His ways, Gloria lived her life in such a way that those who knew her, could not help but love her. She showed herself friendly and was willing to give and share to those in need. Gloria had such a big heart filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and resilience.

Gloria not only loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind, and soul, she also loved her church, St. James MBC, where she was a dedicated member and she loved her church family.

On Wednesday, April 17, the Lord commanded the body of His daughter, Gloria Lee Royal Durden to rest from it’s labor and to enter into thou Master’s joy.

In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her husband: Robert Durden, Sr.; grandparents and two brothers-in-law: Mose Jordan and James Edward Marable.

Left to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories are her two sons: Robert Nathaniel Durden of Adel, GA and Dexter Royal of Manchester, VT; two sisters: Lula Mae Jordan of Moultrie, GA and Esther Marable of New Port News, VA; two special nieces: Diane Neal and Cynthia Floyd; special friends: Gwen Irvin, Johnnie Bell, Velma Sykes, and Mrs. Nita; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Gloria Lee Royal Durden will be Friday, April 26, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at the Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 104 1/2  Wisenbaker Lane, Valdosta, GA.

Pastor Charles L. Carr, Jr. will officiate.

Interment, St. Mary's Church Cemetery, 6112 Savannah Road, Naylor, GA.

Public viewing, Thursday, April 25, 2019, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Godfrey Funeral Home.
