Gracie Mae Preaster

March 27, 1947 — June 14, 2011

Gracie, was born March 27, 1947 to Mr. Wilbert Williams and Helen McKinnon. On Tuesday, June 14, 2011, Gracie made her life ending transition to paradise in the loving arms of Jesus.


She was preceded in death by her grandparents the late Mr. Leroy Preaster and the late Mrs. Mary Jones; two aunts: the late Mrs. Corine Preaster and the late Miss Marsha Dowell; and one uncle: the late Mr. Leo Preaster.


While attending the Valdosta City School System, she shared her creativity and love with her teachers and fellow classmates. Gracie personified the very essence of the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, meekness and self-control. Her sweet spirit and presence will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family, friends and church, for she was a meaning part of all.


She leaves to treasure her memory and lament her passing a beloved mother: Mrs. Helen McKinnon of Valdosta, GA; one devoted sister: Mae Gardner of Valdosta, GA; Aunts and Uncles: Sonnie Mae Preaster of Valdosta, GA, James (Bertha) Preaster of Winter Park, FL, Joe Nathan Preaster, Minnie (Firmin) Emanuel of Sanford, FL, Sophia Buchanan of Winter Park, FL, Evelyn (Robert) Vunk of Cornelius, OR, Leroy (Jacquelyn) Preaster Jr. of Valdosta, GA, Sheila Curry of Washingon, DC and Levi Preaster of Tifton, GA; two Step-Brothers: Howard Daniels and John L. Daniels; two Step-Aunts: Darlene Hampton and Merlene Daniels; two Special Nieces: Kenyadah Prime and Malika Burton;
two Special Nephews: Leon McConnehead Jr. and Atari McConnehead;
a very Special Friend: Irene Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 3 p.m., at the chapel of Godfrey Funeral Home. Bro. John W. Iverson, Sr., will officiate. Public visitation will be today from Noon to 9 p.m.
