Ida Lee Benjamin-Foster

Mrs. Ida Lee Benjamin Foster, age 81, of Naylor, Ga., departed this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the South Georgia Medical Center.

Ida Lee Benjamin Foster was born November 07, 1929 to the late Crawford B. Benjamin and the late Carrie Studimire Benjamin.

She attended Lowndes and Lanier County Schools and graduated from Lakeland High School in 1950. She continued her education at Spellman College in Atlanta, GA.

Ida graced all who came in contact with her, with wisdom, love and her sharing spirit. Though small in statue, she was a strong woman who was dedicated to her role as a woman full of life, vitality, integrity and perseverance. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and devoted friend to many.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Alfonso Foster Sr.; her grandparents: Timothy and Mary Benjamin; her sisters: Carrie Bell James, Mable Carter, Thelma Benjamin, Rebecca Benjamin and Nonia Benjamin; and her brothers: Crawford Benjamin Jr., Charlie Benjamin, Wesley Benjamin, Willie Benjamin and Leroy Benjamin.

Ida leaves to cherish her memory one daughter: Diane Foster Mazyck of Laurel, MD; five sons: Alfonso (Cynthia) Foster Jr. of Woodstock, GA, Chester Lee (Joan) Foster of Tallahassee, FL, Anthony Troy (Stacey) Foster of Valdosta, GA, Benjamin Michael Foster and Clyde Lee (Reconda) Foster of Naylor, GA; six brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; eighteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 3:00pm from the sanctuary of Union Cathedral. Dr. Reginald Benjamin will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Charles Knight Cemetery.
