Isaac Moore

September 20, 1928 — November 19, 2011

Isaac (Ike) Moore was born on September 20, 1928 to the late Mr. Fender Moore and Mariah Stephenson. He was the baby of thirteen wonderful children. After a fruitful and beautiful life, he made his transition on November 19, 2011.

He began his Christian experience as a child at Galatia Missionary Baptist Church in the Mineola/Hahira Community. He later became a member of the Catholic Church and attended St. Johns here in Valdosta upon retirement. He attended and graduated from Lowndes County Public Schools. He attended Savannah State College before entering the US Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant before his retirement from the Army after 27 years of active duty. He continued to serve his Country for 18 more years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) until his second retirement at age 60.

Mr. Moore’s character was exemplified in everything he did. Everyone who knew him knew that he was a man of integrity, wisdom, and high moral values with an abiding faith in Jesus Christ. Mr. Moore was an active member of the Valdosta/Lowndes community. He was a Hospice volunteer, served on several military and civilian ad hoc committees, and was an extraordinary role model and mentor for elementary students in Valdosta City Schools. He was honored and praised for his dedication and extraordinary service. He was a devoted Valdosta Wildcat fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, William, Fender Jr., Albert, Henry and Isaiah; two sisters: Jennette and Virginia and two siblings who died at birth.


He leaves to mourn his passing one brother: Walter E. Moore, Sr. of Hahira, GA; two sisters: Aretha (Versell) Merrell of Philadelphia, PA and Jessie M. Tann of Dayton, OH and a host of nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Isaac Moore will be held Monday November 28, 2011 at 12:10 p.m. from the sanctuary of St. John Catholic Church, 800 Gornto Road, Valdosta. Interment will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.godfreyfuneralhome.net.
