Janie Gibbs

October 31, 1944 — June 28, 2012

Janie Mae Gibbs was born to the late Flander and Lillie R Gibbs, October 31, 1944 in Lenox, GA.

The Lord gently called her to eternal rest, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center.

Janie was a graduate of Cook County High. She loved plants and gardening, which gave her the desire to pursue and complete a Horticulture diploma from Valdosta Technical College.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member Rose Hill Baptist Church in Barneyville, GA. She later moved to Valdosta and became a member of The Church at Pine Hill where she served faithfully as a usher until her health failed.

In 1991, her body was afflicted and the doctors stated she would be ending her life’s journey soon. But God said, not so. She was later diagnosed with Lupus and the doctors stated she was approaching life’s end. But God said, not so. Through the Lord’s mercy, she lived an additional twenty one years after the doctors diagnosis. Great is the Lord’s faithfulness.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.

Janie leaves a devoted and loving family to cherish her memories: One son: Charles L. Gibbs of Atlanta, GA; Six daughters: Sondra Gibbs of Miami, FL, Vickie Gibbs, Monia Thomas (George), Valerie Gibbs, Stephanie Gibbs, and Yalinda Johnson all of Valdosta, GA: one brother: Prince Henry (Evelyn) of West Palm Beach, FL one sister: Betty Bowleg of Miami, FL; twenty grandchildren: LeKeisha, Kamri, Tawney, Reomona (Lamar), Kenneth, Brittany, Jarvis (Denetria), Laniece, Imani, Jamie, Coy (Adriane), Michael, Shantegra, Anthony, Darius, Deonte, Alecia, Alicia, Joshua, Jacaree, Ziya, Kelsi and Charles II; fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and her Pine Hill Church family.
