Jimmie Lee Pete was born to the late Mr. Freddie Pete Sr. and the late Allien White Pete November 26, 1948 in Dyersburg, TN.
He received his education in the public school system and graduated from Bruce High School in Dyersburg, TN. He furthered his education and received his bachelor’s degree.
Jimmie felt the called of his nation and enlisted in the Unites States Air Force. He continued to serve his country by becoming a Firefighter in Maryland where he retired after 27 years of service.
Jimmie was a kind, loving and generous man. Those who knew him will always remember that special smile, that caring heart and that warm embrace he always gave. He met no strangers and there was guaranteed laughter when in his presence. He was always there for his family through good and bad times, no matter what. There will never be another one to replace him in the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by three sisters: Cora Jane Pete, Sadie Griffin and Margert Toles and three brothers: Arthur L. Pete, William L. Pete and Eddie L. Pete.
He leaves to cherish and remember his love: three children: Angela Pete, Deborah Lewis and Tony Lewis, all of District Heights, MD; one sister: Linda Matchett (Sylvester) of Valdosta, GA; two brothers: Freddie Pete Jr. (Lottie) of Memphis, TN and Dwight A. Pete Sr. (Vickie) of Valdosta, GA; one special grandson: Delonta Robinson of District Heights, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
The memorial service for Mr. Jimmie Lee Pete will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 1:00pm in the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.
Dr. William C. Morgan will officiate.
Private burial to follow.
