John D. Gary

Mr. John D. Gary was born on January 26, 1954 in Mitchell County, Georgia.

He departed this life after a lengthy illness on May 8, 2012 at his place of residence.

John D. Gary attended and graduated from Valdosta High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1972-1974.

He was preceded in death by one infant daughter; his father: Frank Gary; and two brothers: Edward James Gary and Elbert Gary.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved mother: Maple Johns Gary; three children: Shawn D. Gary, Stacey Gary and Jonathan Gary all of Valdosta, GA; three sisters: Maephene Ashley (Eddie) of Guyton, GA; Ernestine Freeman (Lamar) and Marietta White (Johnnie) of Valdosta, GA; three brothers: Timothy Gary of Syracuse, NY, Willie F. Gary Sr. (Katrina) and Arthur C. Gary (Gwen) of Valdosta, GA; a close famiy friend: Wanda Rhym of Valdosta, GA; six grandchildren: Chasity, TreShawn, Jayvin, Paris, Jeremiah and Ahmaya; one uncle: Mark Gary (Donnie) of Syracuse, NY; three aunts: Pansy Young and Ester Reynolds of Syracuse, NY and Uther Lee Gary of Camilla, GA; caretakers: George Martin and Gloria J. Thomas and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The homegoing celebration for Mr. John D. Gary will be held Saturday, May 12,2012 at 11:00am from the Godfrey Funeral Home Chapel.

Pastor Tony Jackson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
