Mr. Joyce Wesley Berrien fondly known as “Buddy” was born September 28, 1958, in Valdosta, GA, to Mary L. Berrien and the late George M. Berrien, Jr.
He was educated in the Lowndes County School System, where he graduated from Lowndes County High School in 1977.
“Buddy” was a humble and loving man. “Buddy” with his strong will, was a man who believed in doing things the right way, meaning his way. He was an awesome father and provider for his family. Determined to care for them, he was employed by Standard Contractors for thirty-eight years.
He will always be remembered for his gentle ways, caring heart, and favorite saying, “last one:”
On Wednesday, February 1, 2017, ‘Buddy” transitioned to eternal rest.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Eula Greene, Will Greene, Lillie Carter Berrien and George M. Berrien Sr.
“Buddy” leaves to cherish his memories, two sons: Antwon Berrien and Corey Berrien of Valdosta, GA; his mother: Mary L. Berrien of Valdosta, GA; seven sisters: Beverly Berrien of Newton, GA, Stephanie Ellis of Maryland, Deborah Berrien of Valdosta, GA, Vannessa Milton (Charlie) of Valdosta, GA, Winifred Washington (James) of Texas, Amie Register of Valdosta, GA, and Lawanna Middleton (Johnny) of Valdosta, GA; two brothers: Andy Baker and Tim Baker (Willette) both of Valdosta, GA; six aunts: Eula Copeland, Emily Canady, Margie Collier, Marion Bailey (James), Angeline Morris and Carrie Washington; one uncle: Lewis Berrien; a special friend: Brenda Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service for the late Mr. Joyce Wesley Berrien will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00pm from the sanctuary of West Hill Church of Christ, 1416 W. Hill Avenue, Valdosta.
Bro. Justin Moore will officiate.
Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
