Katie Mae Tanner

December 7, 1930 — May 7, 2014

Katie Mae Tanner, loving daughter of the late Mrs. Harriet Hubbard and the late Mr. Arthur Malden was born December 7, 1930 in Monroeville, Alabama.

She was employed in Quincy, Florida at Gadsden Nursing Home as a Dietary Aid. There she gained love and respect from co-workers and patients for her industrious and loving manner. She girded herself with honor and strengthened her ability with patience. She stretched out her hand to the poor and reached out to the needy. Katie was a lady of elegance and beauty. Her children arise and call her blessed: she was truly invaluable, indispensable, and unforgettable. A blessing, a gift, a treasure like no other, truly Katie Mae Tanner was wonderful.

A heartwarming smile was hers until May 7, 2014.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Leroy Tanner, one son: Abraham Stafford; one brother: Charles Hubbard; and one brother in-law: Johnny Bee Jones.

Katie Mae Tanner leaves her legacy of love to her children: Betty Stafford of Jersey City, NJ, Johnnie Mae Henry (Johnny) of Quincy, FL, Marrion Andrews (Charles) of Pensacola, FL, Larry Frazier (Annie Jean) and Ivory Frazier (Sharon), both of Valdosta, GA; five sisters: Recola Bracy of Pensacola, FL, Delacy Pettiford of Jersey City, NJ, Willie Ree Hubbard, Laura Washington and special sister, Barbara Jones, all of Valdosta, GA; one brother: Willie Hubbard, Jr. (Annie Gloria) of Valdosta, GA; daughter in-law: Amanda Stafford of Hillside, NJ; one special and devoted niece: Marjorie Jones; one special friend: Mable Reynolds; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
