Kenneth Ronald Carnegie Sr.,
was born on February 12, 1949. He was the only child born to Mrs. Arthoreen C. Homer.
Kenneth joined Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 6 years old under the pastorate of Reverend C. B. Johnson. After moving to Atlanta, under Christian experience, Kenneth Sr. and his family joined Green Forest Baptist Church under Reverend George McCalep then later he joined New Birth Baptist Church under Bishop Eddie L. Long.
He received his education in the Valdosta City School System and graduated from Pinevale High in 1967. He later attended DeKalb College, Abraham Baldwin College, Valdosta State and Valdosta Technical College.
He served in the United States Navy on the USS Springfield and Sierra.
He married Lillie C. Peek in 1970 and two children were born to this union.
Kenneth was employed by Georgia Power for 40 years and retired in February 2013.
Kenny will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Joseph & Valious Lee Carnegie, and his father: Auguster Homer Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Lillie Carnegie, his children: Eshone N. Carnegie and Kenneth Ronald Carnegie II (Shauntricia), two grandchildren: Kenneth III-Trey & Demarco, all of Stone Mountain, Ga: A loving mother: Mrs. Arthoreen C. Homer of Valdosta, a brother: Auguster Homer Jr. (Flora) of Decatur, Ga; Living in-laws: Rachel Simmons, Beatrice Johnson, Marie Mills (Willie) & Jerome Rizer (Willie Pearl):god daughter: Shima S. Clark; Cousins:James Edward Carnegie (Serenia), Beverly Harrell (Joe), Valerie Smith (John), Carolyn Love, Lavoris Baker, Clyde Armstrong all of Valdosta and Shirley Childress of Warner Robins, Ga and a hosts of nieces, cousins and friends.
There will be a Memorial Service Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 5-6p.m. at Gregory B. Levetts Funeral Home, 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur GA
Funeral Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 from the sanctuary of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.
Dr. William C. Morgan is the pastor and will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Pallbearers Cemetery in Valdosta, Georgia.
