Lanist Brinson was born to the late Leonard Brinson, Sr., and the late Beulah Brinson on October 4, 1939, in Valdosta, Georgia.
After attending Pinevale High School, he relocated to Miami, Florida in his early twenties. There, he found employment with St Ives/Angstrom Graphics as a Lithograph Printer. After securing employment, he married his sweetheart and soul mate Juanita. He enjoyed his job and was a dedicated employee where he grasped all the techniques of lithograph printing. During his 49 years of employment with Angstrom Graphics, he received numerous accolades for "Employee of the Month" and is said to have used only one sick day during his tenure.
Known as "Shorty" by his friends and colleagues, he was a dedicated husband and father, who enjoyed spending valuable time with his family going on yearly vacations, attending family reunions and sporting events.
In his early years, he found enjoyment and pleasure in playing recreational football and baseball. The family enjoyed watching him score the winning touchdown or hitting a grand slam. He relaxed by watching sports and rooting for his favorite football team the "Dallas Cowboys". He enjoyed driving his high performance vehicles - the 70's GTO and his 60's Mustang. Believe it or not, he drove them as if he was on the Autobahn in Germany. In addition, he had an affinity for the "Cutlass Supreme" automobile. His other hobbies included manicuring his lawn and tinkering/repairing his many vehicles.
On Tuesday, December 24, 2019, surrounded by his devoted wife and family, God called Lanist home for eternal rest.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings: Leonard Brinson Jr., Cloteal Brown, Raymond Brinson Sr., and Jeanette Gibson.
He leaves loving memories to be cherished by his beloved wife Juanita; his four loving children: Benjamin Brinson (Michelle), Elaine Daniels (Willie), Lanist Brinson, Jr., Leland Brinson, and LeVar Brinson; his dear sister: Frances Brinson; seven grandchildren: Lardell, Donta, Michelle, Kim, Victoria, Olivia and Jeremiah; 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
