LaVerne Jackson Moss was born December 10, 1953 in Valdosta, GA to the late Homer Lee Jackson, Sr. and the late Sarah Ruth Jackson.
LaVerne was educated in the Valdosta City School System and was a proud member of the Valdosta High School Class of 1971 and later graduated from Valdosta Technical College. Laverne enjoyed attending Valdosta Wildcat football games whether they were in or out of town. Also, she enjoyed watching sports on television and keeping up with current events in the news. She found pleasure working in her yards and flower gardens.
LaVerne worked and managed several convenient stores over 30 years. She was a caring, loving and compassionate person who always looked out for her family. Throughout her lifetime, she supported many people during their time of bereavement. LaVerne was loved by ALL.
LaVerne accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she attended early church on Sunday mornings. She enjoyed reading and studying the Bible each day.
LaVerne entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 18, 2016, at South Georgia Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents: John and Hattie Beaty and Eustace and Lucille Jackson.
She leaves her legacy of love to her three children whom she adored: Ralph Moss, Jr. (Trailda), Major Marcus Moss (Captain Shameka), and Voncil Moss; four sisters: Vivian Horton, Linda Jackson, Loretha Copeland (Haywood), and Patricia Adams (Phillip); four brothers: Alfonza Jackson, Sr. (Elinor), Homer Jackson, Jr. (Ruth), Willie Jackson, and Bernard Jackson (Jannie); seven grandchildren: Mahoganey, Jayden, Marquisia, Marcus II, Marquis, Kamryn, and Kenyon; fourteen nieces and nephews: husband: Ralph Moss, Sr.; seven special friends: Judy Dixon, Shirley Hill, Phyllis Laury, Ron McKeithen, Eddie Will Tooley, Mary Sue Williams, Pat and Robert Savage; and a host of family and friends.
The celebration of life for the late Mrs. LaVerne Jackson Moss will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 1:00pm from the sanctuary of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev. Thomas J. Haynes will officiate.
Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
